A PARLIAMENT OF MAGPIES

Sunday on Southampton Common was a beautiful sunny winters day. I sat below a tree which was full of magpies, talking to each other. More and more flew to the one tree, until it was bursting with the sound of magpie caws. A parliament of magpies is believed to be a symbol of good luck. It is thought to bring joy and peace with it.
